An attributed ADULT REPORT is not the child's direct sense. A drawing or printed sound word is not an actual material observation.
Day 75 · Case M
- Strong bounded paper response: the author drew a silver six-sided PAD outline and FINGER arrow, then wrote “SOFT SOUND EVERY TIME”. That is the author's paper claim, not a heard school result. Colour and PAD label do not verify a real material. No actual source/date/support/action/observer is supplied; “every time” is an unsupported universal claim.
- Next safe question: “For this one approved broad verified material on this stable support, what, if anything, can a consenting observer notice after a warned single very gentle adult action?” Record a genuine before prediction, local date, action, direct or attributed access and exact response. Quiet paper-only remains valid source reasoning.
- Do not award: any actual loud/soft outcome from M; AC9SFI02 investigation because a child read or touched paper; inference that all pads behave identically; a child's willingness to hear/touch as ability.
- Next teaching move: if paper/real is merged, revisit an arrow versus a dated actual record; if “always” is accepted, ask which different supports/materials have not been tested; if strong, plan one optional locally approved action.
Day 80 · Case N
- Strong bounded paper response: A is drawn as a broad arch alone, B as the same arch with diagonal overlay. A layer is added in the drawing, but actual material, support, method and response are unknown. The printed “ALWAYS SILENT” sentence is an untested claim; a drawn overlay cannot prove silence, soundproofing or composition of a real object.
- Next safe question: verify one broad real card and a safe non-latex broad layer, same stable support/action point, permission/comfort, source/date, genuine prior prediction; if welcome, at most one warned very gentle tap for each condition with separate comfort check. Record exact actual observations or NOT DISCERNIBLE/NOT TESTED, plus other differences such as added thickness/mass. Do not claim a pure material cause from a single pair.
- Do not award: a fixed sound result, material verification from stripes, AC9SFI04 prediction-versus-observation without genuine before and after records, or a capacity/design/musical-performance result as Science material evidence.
- Next teaching move: if child names only a stripe, ask which real parts would need verification; if child assumes silence, practise claim versus evidence; if source discipline is clear, consider an approved genuine comparison or a new safe question.
Interpretation: A paper source can show question and source reasoning. AC9SFU03 actual composition/property evidence needs verified real material and actual observable response; the response is setup-bound. AC9SFI02 requires a safe genuine investigation; AC9SFI04 requires actual prior prediction and later observed result. If no optional action occurred, write REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE, not learner inability or lack of progress. One held response cannot certify term/year learning.
