- Model, 5: Build 71 from seven tens and one one; 70 + 1 = 71. Mark 71 on the chart and describe its neighbours 70 and 72.
- Guided, 8: A (bike workshop: seven racks of ten drawn wheel spokes plus two) and B (library shelf plan: seven rows of ten book icons plus four) produce 72 and 74. Learners make both, read the numerals, and explain why 74 is greater.
- Independent, 6: C (craft design: seven packets of ten paper squares plus five) is 75. Learner changes the model to 73 and names the removed amount. Key: remove two ones. Provide digit cards if numeral writing distracts from place value.
- Exit, 3: Display seven tens and three ones. Ask for numeral and a number between 70 and 73. Key: 73; 71 or 72. Rebuild 37 beside 73 if digits reverse.
