These are invented diagrams, never real sales, bookings, plant counts or travel information. One long strip holds exactly ten printed marks; the hundred square holds exactly ten verified strips. Use paper strips, large marks, a tactile mat, numeral cards or an adult moving pieces as you direct. Explain how much one full group is worth. Choose one card now; your teacher may save another for a later check. The words can be read to you without giving away the mathematics.

Change the representation, keep the amount

For any card, try a second model: ten strips can become one hundred square, or the square can be reopened as ten strips. A strip can become ten singles. The value stays the same only if the replaced pieces are removed from the mat. Ask a partner to make a deliberately wrong model by leaving both versions on the mat, then show exactly what must be removed. On a line, agree which side is increasing before placing a card.
