The learner reads two contrasting original fictional model texts, then plans and edits a paragraph. The sequence is an opening slice of Year 4 English, not a replacement for varied literature, school library texts, systematic spelling or the full local English program.
Prepare: Print/read the source packet; keep Card D unseen for the final transfer. Explain “objective factual report” as language that states what a given source/model supports, and “opinion” as an evaluative view that can still have reasons. Fictional cards are not verified facts about any real school or community. A source-based sentence should identify which card supports it. Let children access text with suitable font, chunking, screen reader, teacher read-aloud, tactile markers or bilingual vocabulary support; record whether a comprehension response followed independent reading or a read-aloud. A child may compose by keyboard, speech-to-text under school policy, AAC, sign/dictation or handwriting; adult wording changes must be identified as prompts.
