Use A4 SVG grid or copy the text layouts below. Each model defines one unit whole: a strip cut into 10 equal cells or a square cut into 100 equal cells. Compare the fraction of its whole, not the raw area of differently shaped print models. With the square, each row of 10 cells is one tenth. Large/tactile variants may use a 10-row pegboard or ten long strips each subdivided into 10; label rows/columns in text for screen-reader access.

Ten-strip text model: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]; shade/fill exactly the chosen count of equal cells. Hundred-grid text model: 10 identical rows of 10 cells; one complete row = 10/100 = 1/10. The SVG supplies a print grid; in a text-only format, state row and column coordinates of shaded cells, e.g. “rows 1–3 all ten cells, row 4 columns 1–7” = 37/100 = 0.37. For tactile access, distinguish each row with a raised boundary and count by rows plus remainder.

When printing, use monospaced text at a readable size or draw a true equal-spaced line. The equally spaced tick positions are the conceptual model; if font substitution distorts this text, use a ruler to redraw. For hundredths between 0.3 and 0.4, a separate equal-spaced interval has 0.30, 0.31, …, 0.40 ticks.
Original context cards
These are fictional designed diagrams, not actual measurements, ecological observations, population data or historical records. On each card, the same depicted whole is partitioned equally; teacher builds the diagram before learners infer a decimal. Keep Cards 13–16 unseen for Day 10 transfer.
