These are invented held-out cases. The teacher keeps them separate from the daily learner card until the named day. Offer read-aloud, large print, tactile marks, AAC/sign, calculator and exact-word transcription without showing the staff key or suggesting a conclusion. Record support and first independent answer. No actual garden, child, event or product is described.

A fictional Garden Label team made a poster after one indoor table check:

21 LABELS READABLE AT CLOSING! We looked at 28 paper labels. Fourteen were readable without a change; seven were readable after someone wrote over a faint word; seven remained hard to read. Please let us place labels outdoors next week.

Its own recorder's sheet lists 14 unchanged readable, 7 readable after rewriting, 7 hard to read, total 28. A selected slip says, “The large number caught my eye.” The test does not record rain, sun, viewing distance or more than one check. The poster and sheet came from the same team.

1. What is the poster's purpose, and are the poster and recorder's sheet independent? Give a source detail.
2. Which is more careful: “21 readable at closing, including 7 rewritten” or “21 outdoor-ready labels”? Explain the limit.
3. Show two equal-row arrays for 28. Is 28 prime, composite or square? Is 29 prime? Explain a factor check.
4. Give one specific piece of evidence or test the fictional manager would need before placing labels outdoors. Do not invent a result.

Check B · Day 20 · New badge-pocket record

A fictional Events Table group folded 32 paper badge pockets for a one-day indoor desk trial. Its poster says “24 pockets held at closing!” A recorder's sheet says 16 held the card without a change, 8 held it after a second tuck, 8 dropped or slipped; total 32. The same group made both sources. A draft request asks to make 100 pockets tomorrow. The sheet has no result for a longer use period or a different card size. Nothing about a real event or real people is recorded.

1. On one line from 0 to 1, place the shares 8/32, 16/32 and 24/32 as common fractions. Add 1/3 as a proposed allocation for a future test, not an outcome. Order them and justify where 1/3 goes.
2. Does “24 held at closing” prove the original fold was reliable for 100 pockets? Use the recorder's details and one limit.
3. Write or present a two- to four-sentence recommendation to the fictional manager. Include a conditional decision, two correctly attributed source details, an uncertainty and one feasible next check. You may recommend a smaller retest, a revised plan or waiting.
4. Mark one sentence of your recommendation as a recorded fact, an inference or an unknown. Explain your label.
