Use after preserving first child-controlled work. Observe each target as independent / with recorded support / not yet observable. Do not sum these into an A–E mark, a diagnosis or whole-standard achievement. Accept equivalent source-supported descriptions, sign/AAC and exact child directions; record physical making separately from an unmade plan. Actual device exploration is observed separately under the device record.
Check A
The object/picture order is ring → flag → folded finish card; actual props are objects, their images are pictures. The symbols are RECTANGLE → OVAL → DIAMOND under Card Show key. A valid correspondence is “The oval stands for lifting the flag in this key.” The matching key is supplied to a reader; the learner does not need to perform a lift, cut a flag or explain geometric properties.
MY VOICE RECORDING is information about their voice; MY OWN DRAWING is data they created. Either own-data category with an appropriate explanation is acceptable. Do not request the recording/drawing or infer a publication licence. The supplied teacher key describes the pretend show; it is not the child's authored key. A child-authored key/board is their created data even without identifying details. Created/owned data and identifying information are different ideas; accept a child who correctly explains their own authorship rather than rejecting their key as “not personal”. A real board could also become identifying if personal details were added.
Next step: after capture, use an unrelated pretend box display with two large physical tokens and a new explicit key. Match one item at a time and let the child give the reader the key. If privacy categories are unclear, compare an empty MY NAME category with a fixed invented toy symbol; never fill the name.
Check B
The source remains CLOSE CARD → OPEN CARD → SHOW SUN in both views. R symbols: TRIANGLE → SQUARE → CIRCLE. S symbols: TRIANGLE → CIRCLE → SQUARE. The first triangle stays because both keys give it the same CLOSE CARD meaning. Places 2/3 swap symbols; the underlying message does not change. “All symbols must change” is not supported by these keys. Record an initial error and later self-revision separately.
MY NAME or MY OWN DRAWING is a valid own-data category if the child's response connects it to themselves/their creation. No actual value is needed to read the invented key. This is partial recognition, not proof the child can judge every real app, consent situation or legal ownership question.
Next step: use a new pretend weather-picture board whose two agreed keys change one meaning and keep one. Ask what must stay/alter to preserve a new message. Weather icons are fictional representation practice, not an actual forecast or safety instruction.
