Story Cart, Paper Theatre and Message Wall are made-up cases. You may point, speak, sign, use AAC, draw or direct an adult to record your exact answer. You never have to tell anyone about your family, celebration, belief, birthplace, home, culture or Country/Place. A/B/C are switchable same-target routes, not fixed learning styles. Adults may read the complete linear source words. Home ideas are free and optional. On check days the new check source and neutral route supports come first; discuss these cards only after first responses.
Day 71 · Ask the notice
Shared target: Ask one A question it can answer about the first opening and one it cannot answer about others.
- A · Mark: Circle the opening and named people, draw an ASK? bubble linked to them and another ASK? bubble beside unnamed visitors.
- B · Say/AAC: Ask what began in the first year and who A names; ask if every family came and say why A cannot tell.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to put OPENING and NAMED PEOPLE on broad cards, then leave an EVERYONE? question card open.
Home: Invent a toy event notice with one named participant and one unanswered question.
Day 72 · First, same day, next year
Shared target: Place all three B scenes in order and say why the cover drawing is next-year marking.
- A · Mark: Move three whole picture cards onto the time mat; link “draw covers” to the NEXT YEAR label.
- B · Say/AAC: Tell “first ; later that day ; next year ___”; explain that making a new cover remembers the earlier opening.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to place cart, open book and new cover in three broad spaces; correct a same-day/next-year swap and name the reason.
Home: Make three imaginary toy-event cards labelled FIRST, LATER TODAY, LATER YEAR.
Day 73 · Mara's reason
Shared target: Link Mara's C note to the opening and later marking, keeping Mara's reason individual.
- A · Mark: Put MARA SAYS beside the choosing scene and the later cover; circle Mara's exact “matters to me because” words.
- B · Say/AAC: Give a two-step first/next-year story and say why the opening mattered to Mara, not everybody.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to place Mara's whole note beside B's first and next-year scenes and mark her reason, leaving EVERYONE ELSE? open.
Home: Let an imaginary puppet state why one toy event mattered to that puppet.
Day 74 · Ivo came later
Shared target: Attribute Mara and Ivo's different C participation and ask one question their notes leave open.
- A · Mark: Place Mara by FIRST and NEXT YEAR, Ivo by NEXT YEAR only; draw a WHO ELSE? question bubble.
- B · Say/AAC: Say what Mara and Ivo each report, then ask whose account would help with a detail neither supplies.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to sort the two whole speaker notes by supported time scenes, keep Ivo's FIRST OPENING FEELING? field blank and write one question for another possible source.
Home: Give two made-up puppets different “I was there” times; ask what each can know.
Day 75 · Fresh Check A
Shared target: Use the new Paper Theatre sources to order first/later events, attribute a note and leave an unknown.
- A · Mark: Use large blank first/later spaces, a SPEAKER field, one reason/marking field and a QUESTION field; mark each source number.
- B · Say/AAC: Answer all Check A questions with the new source's exact words, a named speaker and one detail left open.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to sort whole new source panels into FIRST, LATER, SPEAKER and NOT TOLD spaces; point to evidence for each answer.
Home: After first check response, invent a different toy-theatre occasion.
Day 76 · Two paper objects
Shared target: Sort D's ticket and cover by their labels and ask who used them without guessing.
- A · Mark: Place the whole ticket at FIRST and whole cover at NEXT YEAR; draw a TICKET HOLDER? bubble.
- B · Say/AAC: Name each object's printed time, then ask who held the ticket and state D does not say.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to trace and sort the two large shapes by time label, leaving an OWNER? field open.
Home: Draw two toy-event objects; label when they belong, not who used them.
Day 77 · Same fact, different source
Shared target: Find one shared A/B event fact, one Mara-only reason and one unknown.
- A · Mark: Place A and B by an OPENING FIRST card; put Mara's C by her own REASON card and add an UNKNOWN bubble.
- B · Say/AAC: Finish “A/B both say ; Mara alone says ___ matters to her; we do not know .”
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to stack A/B for the shared sequence, keep Mara's exact reason separate, and leave an unnamed visitor field open.
Home: Make two pretend notices agree on one event and a toy note add one personal reason.
Day 78 · Some people, not everyone
Shared target: Give a source-backed Mara/Kit and Ivo participation account, then ask about unnamed people without assuming attendance.
- A · Mark: Put Mara/Kit by FIRST, Ivo by NEXT YEAR and an EVERY FAMILY? bubble outside both.
- B · Say/AAC: Say which source names each participant and ask who else came; keep unnamed families unknown.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to mark exact A/C participation words, then write NOT STATED for any unnamed person's attendance.
Home: Give three toy figures an invented occasion; leave one figure's attendance unreported.
Day 79 · A careful event story
Shared target: Tell A–D's first/next-year story with Mara's own reason, an unknown and a respectful next-source question.
- A · Mark: Make three broad first/later/reason panels with source letters, then add UNKNOWN and NEXT SOURCE? bubbles.
- B · Say/AAC: Narrate “A/B say ___ first; B/C say ___ next year; Mara says ___ matters to her; we cannot tell ; I would ask .”
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to place whole sources in event order and scribe your telling of Mara's reason, a missing detail and a next question exactly.
Home: Tell an entirely fictional toy occasion with a later way to remember it.
Day 80 · Fresh Check B
Shared target: Use new Message Wall sources to order, attribute, choose a bounded conclusion and ask a question.
- A · Mark: Fill large first/next-year fields, link each speaker to exact words, circle the supported statement and add an open question.
- B · Say/AAC: Tell the source-labelled event order and each person's report, choose the careful conclusion and explain one unknown.
- C · Direct: Direct an adult to sort whole source sections by time and speaker, then mark your conclusion and next-source question without adding an invented family.
