Source 1 · picture timeline: FIRST YEAR: a paper puppet stage with a top and two legs is built. LATER THAT DAY: the first puppet story is shared behind the stage. NEXT YEAR: some families draw new paper tickets to remember the first puppet story. The later tickets do not turn next year into the first year again.
Source 2 · Ada's own note: “I came with my aunt Lou in the next year. I drew a ticket. I was not at the first puppet story. The later day mattered to me because Lou let me choose the ticket picture.”
- Put the three picture scenes in time order. Which is the first event, and which belongs to the next year?
- What are the later tickets for? Point to the source words that tell you.
- Who says why the later day mattered to them? Did that person attend the first puppet story? Name the source.
- Ask one question these two sources cannot answer about another person's attendance or reason. Finish “The sources say ; they do not tell me .”

Source 2 · Sol's note: “I came with Dad in the next year. We put up a paper note to remember when the wall first opened. I liked its blue border.”
Source 3 · Lee's note: “I helped open the message wall in the first year. I did not come back in the next year.”
- Which pictured event is first? What happened in the next year, and why? Name the source.
- Which speaker reports the first opening, and which reports the later note? Tell one exact fact for each speaker.
- Choose the careful message: A “Sol and Lee report taking part at different times”; B “Both attended both years and every family did too.” Explain which source words support your choice.
