An adult may read the labels. You may sort large cards, point, speak, sign, use AAC, feel raised marks or tell an adult where to move a card. The picture votes in practice are from imaginary storytellers unless your teacher says a willing class made a new anonymous set. The paper map is a game board, not a real travel map.

121 · Ask, collect, sort

Question: Which picture setting did the imaginary storytellers choose? Collect the mixed picture cards. Put each in one matching group. Say why two belong together.

122 · Show one choice with one card

Put one card for each recorded choice on the mat. Compare two groups. Which group has more, fewer or the same number? Show how you checked.

123 · A new set can give a new answer

Your teacher will change one picture card and call this a new set. Sort again. What changed? Which two groups now match?

124 · What can this set tell us?

Use a named question and a set your teacher provides. It may be imaginary or an optional anonymous class choice. Say only what the displayed cards show. You may pass on a real vote.

125 · Fresh picture-card question

The teacher has a new question and new mixed picture cards. Collect, sort and compare. Explain using one card for one recorded choice.

126 · A place needs a reference

Find STAR, BOOK and CUP on a paper map. Tell where BOOK is relative to STAR. Turn the map only after saying which side is page top.

127 · Two connected stops

Start your paper visitor at STAR. Give a first stop and then a next stop. Name each object so a listener can follow without guessing.

128 · The map can change

Your teacher will move one or more loose symbols. Check an old “below” or “beside” sentence. Is it still true? Make a new sentence with a named reference.

129 · Try a clear route

Choose a start, first stop and next stop on the paper board. Tell, sign or select the route. Let a listener follow exactly; change a word if they end elsewhere. An optional real classroom relation needs your teacher's safety check.

130 · Fresh route check

The teacher has a new small paper map. Name page top, follow two connected moves and tell where the final object is relative to a named object. This is not a speed test.
