Teacher copy: This page may include teaching prompts or answer keys. Answer keys in this public library can be viewed by anyone. Give learners a clean prompt, use checks as formative evidence, and change a case locally when prior access matters.

Close this file until the child's first response is saved. Record task / exact child words or actions / information and response route / model or prompt / next step. Categories are independent, after neutral information access, after teaching support, or unobserved. Neutral reading names every given card; pointing toward the changed beat/answer is teaching support. Do not label a learner's ability, hearing, identity or preference from one check. No-sound scores can fully show this planning goal, while actual sound-maker/heard information, timing and recipient are separate observations.

Split 1 · Day 145

Beat 2 changes ONE→PAIR. P has four beats/six events (2+1+2+1); Q has four beats/seven events (2+2+2+1). The planned beat starts/pace hold; one extra event fits into beat 2's midpoint. More events here do not mean faster beats. Beat decisions 1/3/4, the four-beat plan, source convention or even beat-start spacing are valid held features. Child gives an actual card/disc as evidence, not just plan letters. Paper cannot prove hearing, maintained live pulse, comfortable sound, child performance, a real audience or listener meaning.

If beat/event counts mix, later separate four upper beat tags from lower event discs on a different recipe. If PAIR is read as simultaneous two-part sound, preview first then middle on one enclosed broad card. If “faster” is inferred merely from event count, later hold a visible adult beat pace while ONE/PAIR changes or describe the same timing exactly; log actual hearing separately. If access or pass prevents observation, offer a new equivalent opportunity.

Split 2 · Day 150

New plan ONE PAIR ONE PAIR. Beat 1 ONE and beat 2 PAIR hold; final beat 4 must be PAIR. To total six events, beat 3 must be ONE: 1+2+1+2=6. Changes are beat 3 PAIR→ONE and beat 4 ONE→PAIR. All four beat starts/planned pace, first two decisions, single source and six-event total hold. The pair relocates from beat 3 to beat 4. A child-owned reason such as “I chose two quick to finish” is welcome, not a keyed emotion or mandatory story. If reason is absent or declined, record not stated and still recognise structural success. Independent enumeration of possible third/fourth cards gives one valid result under all stated constraints.

If seven events result, compare adding another PAIR with moving one. If five result, check final PAIR. If first two cards change, fix their broad cards on a later practice strip. Save first work before modelling another base, e.g. ONE ONE ONE PAIR → ONE PAIR ONE ONE, still four beats/five events, changed beats 2/4. Do not count a taught retry as independent or claim physical sound control from an adult-directed score. Hearing/performance remains unobserved unless actually accessible and observed.

Daily observations and next moves

Day Look for / accept Next teaching step if uncertain
141 One enclosed beat with ONE or two sequential PAIR events. Trace first/middle halves on one broad card; avoid simultaneous placement.
142 Four beat starts in both, four/eight event discs; planned beat pace holds. Separate upper beat tags from lower sound discs before counting.
143 Own four-card mixed recipe with a cited ONE and PAIR beat. Rehearse one enclosed card or exact neutral description before a whole piece.
144 Child-chosen opening/ending/standalone piece and a musical card choice. Accept no story/reason; ask which card the child wants to keep.
145 First Split 1 changed beat/decisions, both beat/event counts, pace and limit. Use the Split 1 follow-up with a different recipe after saving first work.
146 Own rehearsal plan; actual maker/timing logged only if tried. Return to one-card practice at a comfortable steady pace, keeping choice.
147 Exactly one card changes, other three hold, event count changes by one. Compare corresponding cards and distinguish planned from actual pace.
148 Pair relocation changes two cards while four beats/five events hold. Count all discs and restore the old PAIR place to ONE on another practice.
149 Own chosen share/actual source and recipient fields only if events occurred. Keep gates held and practise an invitation using an invented role.
150 First Split 2 complete plan, both changed cards, held prefix/count/pace and limit. Use Split 2 follow-up with a different base after saving first response.
