Keep these complete fresh cases unseen in the lessons, learner routes, optional swaps and print aids until the child's first independent response. Use a literal read-aloud, AAC, scribe or broad secured tactile version with the same information. Note neutral rereads and exact support; do not cue the answer. These paper cases are FICTIONAL MODELS, never evidence that a real object moved. If no separate approved genuine source exists, write REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE. Do not rank children from two checks or infer a whole Foundation standard.
Day 95 · fresh Case R: two paper trials with a moved start
Complete held source: “FICTIONAL PAPER CASE R. A large closed fabric-covered block is pictured on a low safe tray with ordered marks HOME, BRIDGE, GATE. The first drawn run puts the block on its wide face at HOME and shows a stop at BRIDGE. The second drawn run puts the same block on its narrow face at BRIDGE and shows a stop at GATE. The tray and adult no-push release are said to be the same. The maker of the drawing writes, ‘The narrow face makes it go farther.’ No actual block, run, local date or witness is supplied.” Neither HOME/BRIDGE/GATE nor fabric-covered block occurs in teaching or optional practice.
Exact nonvisual/tactile equivalent: read all sentences in order; secure one broad strip with large fixed HOME, BRIDGE, GATE positions left to right. Add two broad fixed run strips: WIDE, START HOME, STOP BRIDGE; NARROW, START BRIDGE, STOP GATE. One large MODEL label stays attached. No real equipment or loose pieces.
First independent prompts: (1) “What change did the maker want to compare?” (2) “What other condition changed, and can these two paper stops show that one face travels farther from the same start?” (3) “Describe a safer, fairer approved real comparison and the source/date/raw marks you would record.” Save the child's answer before giving any correction. If a child says “both moved one mark” on this ordered strip, accept it as a paper observation while still asking about changed starts and no real result.
Day 100 · fresh Case S: a conclusion without a prior prediction
Complete held source: “FICTIONAL PAPER CASE S. A teacher-drawn table is titled MARKET DISPLAY PANEL MODEL. It shows one imagined large panel placed FLAT for two pretend tries and EDGE for two pretend tries on the same pictured shallow tray and start point. FLAT stops are A and B; EDGE stops are B and A. An extra EDGE row says HAND CAUGHT PANEL — INTERRUPTED. After the table was drawn, a caption was added: ‘I predicted EDGE would always reach B.’ There is no earlier prediction mark, actual event, local date or witness.” The A/B pattern is mixed; the added caption is retrospective.

On the first strip, two fixed entries A then B; on the second, B then A; then a broad INTERRUPTED strip for HAND CAUGHT PANEL. Attach FICTIONAL MODEL and AFTER-TABLE CAPTION labels.
