All three aids are original black-on-white A4 SVG/PDF. Print at 100% on A4; no colour is needed to tell branches apart. The visible words are the authoritative data. A teacher or learner may use this page on a screen reader, enlarged device or plain paper. A tactile route uses three labelled strips or cards per input; never ask someone to infer a trait from the drawing. The underlying cards are fictional and are not for real plant identification.
Model profile board
The page has two columns and five rows. Reading order is row by row: S1, S2, S3, J1, J2, J3, T1, T2, T3, T4. Each card displays ID and entire edge / tip / stem in words:
- S1: smooth / rounded / long.
- S2: smooth / rounded / short.
- S3: smooth / pointed / short.
- J1: jagged / rounded / long.
- J2: jagged / pointed / long.
- J3: jagged / pointed / short.
- T1: smooth / rounded / short.
- T2: jagged / pointed / long.
- T3: smooth / pointed / long.
- T4: mixed (one smooth side and one jagged side) / rounded / short.
Make tactile cards by writing each ID in large print/Braille if locally available, plus separate labelled edge, tip and stem strips. Optional edge textures can be smooth strip, notched strip and half-and-half strip; the word label remains essential. Compare three words for a full match. Long stem has only the stipulated meaning in source packet.
Nested key and trace mat
Top input fields: card ID, entire edge, tip, stem. The left side starts one branch of a flowchart with a start/input box, a first diamond for the entire-edge condition, then a nested diamond for tip/stem test. Continue the other branches on scrap paper; the printed diamonds alone are not a complete algorithm. At the bottom, there is a line for condition → branch → candidate → verification → output. The right side starts corresponding nested IF pseudocode; continue any missing branches on paper, then add IF all 3 traits match candidate / OUTPUT candidate / ELSE OUTPUT unmatched. Learners fill actual conditions from Version 1 or 2; the mat does not supply an answer.
For a tactile/text equivalent, place cards in this order on a desk or read them in order: input → edge test → branch → nested tip/stem test → candidate → compare all three baseline traits → output or unmatched. Use a recorded trace line rather than an arrow drawing. A decision card must be read in words; shape/position alone is not the information.
Four-frame explainer
Reading order: top-left frame 1, top-right frame 2, bottom-left frame 3, bottom-right frame 4. Headings: (1) overview/question; (2) first explained step; (3) next step and evidence; (4) verify and honest limit. Each has ruled space for main words or audio script and a small optional visual/tactile cue box. To work without the sheet, write the four numbered headings on ordinary paper and give complete sentences. For audio/AAC, speak or enter headings in order; no recording is needed. For tactile, four numbered large cards in a line carry the same words. A reader must be able to follow the text without colour, arrows or an optional image.
