Ten minutes · movement / planning. You need: A strip of paper or
scarf, two cushions and clear floor or table space. Keep doorways and exits
unblocked.
Play: Put one cushion at the start and one at the end. Let the child lay
out a route between them. They can walk beside it, roll a toy, trace it with
a finger or direct you. Add a detour only if they want.
Adult says: “Where should the path go?” “Shall we go around or through?”
“Would you like to pause?” Respect “stop” straight away.
Child chooses: Short or long path, movement or seated toy route, fast or
slow pace. No race or required number of steps.
Notice: How did they plan or change the route? What sign told you they
wanted a break or another go?
Access and safety: A finger route on a table offers the same planning
choice without floor movement. Use tactile edges or spoken landmarks for low
vision. Check for trip hazards. No screen is needed.
