Offer choice of response mode without changing the lesson’s evidence target. “Direct” may be speech, sign, gesture, AAC, switch or confirmed eye gaze. Neutral adult movement or transcription must not become the adult’s answer. A pass or later turn is allowed and logged, not scored as demonstrated understanding. Exact diagrams and print text are available in alternatives.
| Day | Draw / compose route | Quiet broad-card route | Exact text / tactile directed route |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31 | Sketch one empty card and dictate/mark its intended purpose. | Select a purpose statement card and state an own-paper idea. | Hear/feel three named purpose cards, choose one, and direct adult to record exact intention. |
| 32 | Draw one original mark and pair it with one invented game meaning. | Put one broad symbol beside one broad named tray on a local legend. | Hear/feel a symbol and target; direct a single sign–meaning pairing and repeat it. |
| 33 | Mark two same-sign uses and redraw only one with a distinct sign. | Point to duplicate DOT cards and swap one large card for a different mark. | Read/feel two DOT uses; direct a distinct replacement for one target while other holds. |
| 34 | Draw a two-pair guide that follows the child’s own stated legend. | Arrange two sign cards beside two matching target cards. | Trace/read two legend pairs and direct both consistent placements on raised cells. |
| 35 | Independently relocate THREE DOTS in new K to the legend’s named tray. | Select broad THREE DOTS and put it at one of two fixed trays. | Hear/feel K source and direct symbol placement, naming held legend and trays. |
| 36 | Make an original one-panel guide with two signs, meanings and purpose. | Choose/place large original sign and target cards; adult writes exact legend. | Direct neutral adult through purpose, two signs, two meanings and placements on raised board. |
| 37 | Revise one sign to differ without colour, preserving meanings. | Replace one card with a different outline/count/texture while targets hold. | Hear/feel both signs; direct one distinguishable revision and trace unchanged meanings. |
| 38 | If choosing, show own finished card and ask a willing reader one neutral question. | Choose share / private rehearsal / later / pass; record actual response only if heard. | Use voice/sign/AAC to invite or decline; adult reads card and asks neutral question if sharing occurs. |
| 39 | Ask maker and purpose questions of authorised real work if present. | Select one respectful source question card; otherwise practise on adult original. | Hear accessible verified description/statement and direct a question; mark real encounter on hold if unavailable. |
| 40 | Independently redraw one GO/PAUSE sign to be distinguishable without colour. | Choose a replacement large outline/count/texture for one identical circle sign. | Hear/feel identical starting outlines; direct one new sign and repeat both unchanged meanings. |
These routes support paper message choices. A tactile/text route does not prove seeing an authentic media work; a drawn paper card does not prove digital production; a puppet rehearsal does not prove an actual willing audience understood anything.
