Print at actual A4 size or use exact text/tactile alternatives. Prepare broad, safe cards with thick shapes and high-contrast outlines. No child must read, cut, stick, draw, handle small pieces or rely on colour. An adult can act as a neutral scribe/placer while recording which choices came from the child. All game rules below are fictional, made for this pack; no symbol has a universal or cultural meaning here.
A · Maker purpose cards
SVG · PDF. Three adult-stated purposes for an invented paper card: INVITE to a game, EXPLAIN sorting, OFFER a playful idea. The drawings are not presented as inherently meaning those purposes. Use Day 31.
B · Invented symbol legend
SVG · PDF. Within one fictional game only, DOT means ROUND TRAY and BAR means SQUARE TRAY. Two explicit symbol–meaning pairs. Use Day 32.
C · Ambiguity and repair
SVG · PDF. Before: DOT appears next to both ROUND and SQUARE trays. After: DOT remains by ROUND; BAR replaces it by SQUARE. The change is a local clarity repair, not a universal symbol rule. Use Day 33.
D · One-panel guide
SVG · PDF. A consistent guide with the local legend and both sign placements. Use Days 34 and 37 to trace sign→meaning→target without colour-only distinctions.
E · Maker card
SVG · PDF. Blank one-panel guide for child’s purpose, two signs, two invented meanings and final placements. It is a template until the child makes/directs the content; Day 36 produces a small original paper media work.
F · Maker and reader log
SVG · PDF. Separate fields for child intention, actual finished card, actual willing-reader words or rehearsal/later/pass, and authorised real-maker encounter or hold. Use Days 38–39.
New checks K/L are public formative sources, not routine modelling pages. Their worked answers stay in the educator key. Keep Day 35/40 supplementary swaps for After Check.
Five-step teacher preparation: (1) Choose a fictional, low-stakes paper game and state that its icon rules are invented. (2) Print or recreate broad shapes and two blank target trays; read all labels aloud. (3) Offer draw, fixed-card or directed placement for the same target. (4) On creation days, write child’s exact sign–meaning pairs and distinguish child-authored features from adult transcription. (5) If a willing reader uses the finished card, ask a neutral question and log actual words separately from intention. Do not create/upload a child recording or copy real community media into the pack.
