In the reply only, replace the X at local count 2 with REST. Keep reply counts 1, 3 and 4 as they were. Show the complete call and answer in two four-place groups and point to the one changed reply place. Circle can label the call; triangle can label the reply. This is invented paper music, not a real lantern signal.
Save first: complete eight-place score, unchanged first phrase, changed reply location, the child's reason and route. Do not coach a solution before saving. Paper correctness cannot establish heard call/answer or accurate playing.

Keep the first V and its circle exactly. In the reply only, replace local X1 with REST; keep local marks 2, 3 and 4. Change the reply source label from circle to triangle. Show the complete two-phrase plan; point to the changed reply cell and the changed source symbol. Circle and triangle are abstract source plans, not real instruments.
Save first: full eight-place score, first phrase/source, second phrase/source, one changed reply cell, child's explanation and route. A labelled source does not prove that any sound happened or had a particular timbre.
