- External features/grouping, AC9SFU01: An actual, approved and attributed view of distinct real plant and animal subjects can support descriptions of features visible in those views and a stated feature grouping. The two-pair log holds IDs and exceptions. A drawing of an invented puppet/plant is useful for rule logic but does not establish a real organism's feature or that the child observed living things. A real photo is a mediated view of its depicted subject, not a live local encounter. One subject cropped twice is one subject. A pointed leaf and pointed ear can share an outline rule while remaining different structures. ACARA's Foundation background for this content description notes observation and grouping; its First Nations material is background, not copied into this pack or local cultural authority.
- Observations/questions, AC9SFH01: Ask which features a source actually makes available, what an adult report adds and which wider claim remains untested. The invented author conversation is fictional, not a real interview or evidence of community practice.
- Question/prediction, AC9SFI01: On Day 148, a prediction is creditable as prior only if the child's exact words precede a genuinely new approved view. Choosing NO PREDICTION is an access choice; a retrospective guess is not prior evidence.
- Safe investigation/template, AC9SFI02/03: Credit direct natural-world sensory investigation only for a genuinely safe approved live view, with local approval, date, distinct identity, actual child access, exact noticed feature and interruption recorded. PHOTO supports only depicted visible features and may help AC9SFU01 grouping, but a photo-only route does not establish a live investigation. ADULT REPORT is not the child's own direct sensing. If no approved actual source access occurred, mark REAL OBSERVATION NOT AVAILABLE. Fictional cards can practise templates, patterns, NOT VISIBLE and counterexample reasoning only.
- Compare/share, AC9SFI04/05: Compare only an authentic earlier prediction with a later genuine observation when both exist. Share a source-bounded claim privately through speech, sign, AAC, pointing, drawing or child-directed scribing. A rehearsed listener line is not actual feedback.
- Integrated boundary: Week 29 arts picture-message work can provide a form for a message, not biological evidence. Week 30 design revision compares a tested paper holder against a criterion; it is separate from checking an external-feature grouping rule. Neither subject's result backfills a Science log.
- Fresh checks: Day 145 and Day 150 are new fictional paper cases. They sample feature-rule and source-limit reasoning only. They cannot certify safe actual investigation, a real local feature, year mastery or measured gain.
National label is Foundation Year; Queensland uses Prep. State and territory implementation needs current local review.
