These are independent formative tasks using invented values. Your teacher may read them exactly or provide large print, tactile axes, selectable text or AAC. State units and what the model can support. A text description of a graph can show the same association reasoning when plotting by hand is an access barrier. Your teacher will give feedback and a later new example where helpful.

Day 5 · Check A: scatterplot and claim

Use the fictional route card. On axes with distance 0–12 km and duration 0–40 minutes, plot or accurately describe these four pairs: (2,7), (4,13), (8,26), (12,35). State the direction and approximate form of their association. Then repair this sentence so it fits the evidence: “Every real 12 km trip takes exactly 35 minutes.”

Include the source's fictional scope. You may show a coordinate list plus a pattern sentence instead of a visual plot if that is your agreed access route.

Day 10 · Check B: linear models and a cap

Two new fictional month-to-month plans are offered for an adult household. Plan X has a $180 setup cost plus $90 for each complete month. Plan Y has a $420 setup cost plus $60 for each complete month. Let m be a whole number of complete months from 0 to 12. The practice cap for ten complete months is $1,000. These are not real offers.

  1. Write a total-cost rule for X and Y, including what each term means.
  2. Find when the two rules give the same cost. Check by substituting the month count into both rules, and interpret the point with units.
  3. Calculate both totals at ten months. Decide whether either fits the stated cap. A lower price alone may still be above the cap.
  4. Name one missing real-world condition that an adult would need to verify before any real decision.

Show enough working that another reader can follow your conclusion. Use a calculator as an agreed access aid if needed; explain the equation and meaning yourself.
