Twenty-five minutes a day, Days 11–20. This continues the opening Year 3 English fortnight: supported inference, paragraph stages, tense, word parts and audience. Week 3 asks whether another reader can actually follow a fictional tabletop route. Week 4 uses a fictional stock card to explain how the same number can be grouped in more than one way. The parallel mathematics pack teaches and checks the mathematics separately. Neither English activity certifies a map, an actual school route, stock records or mathematics mastery.
Pick up and teach
- Read the ten timed teacher scripts. One lesson requires the shared text, a learner card, a pencil and a few paper tokens. No device, printing or real walk is required.
- Keep shared texts and word cards with you. Read these aloud; they are not controlled decodable texts. Match independent reading/word work to each child's taught code and record help given.
- Give each child one of the three genuine practice routes per day in learner cards. All three address that day's idea through different familiar contexts; a child may change route or use a tactile, oral, typed, drawn or AAC response.
- Use the garden route mat and stock explanation planner or their plain-text and tactile equivalents. The SVG originals are garden mat and stock planner.
- Keep the fresh learner checks out of practice until Days 15 and 20. The teacher-only key and next moves separate reading, listening/comprehension, writing and oral explanation. Rotate individual conferences; a teacher cannot privately assess a class in one seven-minute station.
- For a longer block or a low-pressure optional home activity, use the day-matched 12-minute extras: ten days, two additional routes each, with no required device or purchase.
The curriculum crosswalk records exact Year 3 English descriptions and partial evidence. The source/rights ledger, three-role desk run-through and read-only verifier let a teacher or publisher inspect what has actually been checked. This is one fortnight, not Year 3 coverage. Follow the applicable state or territory implementation, school scope, learner access plan and professional judgement.
