The child keeps DRAWN COVER and REAL BOOK SLOT visible, leaves the latter empty, chooses one with a purpose-linked reason, and proposes a real visitor check: ask an actual viewer to point to the invented drawing and the still-empty real slot. This is a proposed check, not a supplied success.
Next moves: If both proposals only change colour, ask for a different position/boundary/label and save that as later teaching. If the real slot is filled from imagination, reread “empty until a real book is available.” If a child says a visitor understood it, ask which person actually looked; no real visitor is supplied. If an adult suggested the idea, record the cue and invite a fresh unaided design later.

Exact new source: PLAN is an idea, TRIED is an EMPTY event field until an actual approved trial, CHANGE is a next idea. Source order is PLAN / TRIED / CHANGE. The child may choose a side-by-side three-zone page or a stacked sequence, or another distinguishable arrangement with all labels and the difference between idea/evidence clear.
Expected design evidence: Two layouts, a choice linked to a pretend viewer's ability to follow source/status, safe adult-checked large paper/table, child or adult physical handler named accurately, and a proposed observation: whether a broad card stayed in its intended zone and whether a real viewer can identify the idea versus an actual event. A diagram is a valid proposal, not material-use evidence. The child may explain that CHANGE can remain a proposed next step when nothing was tried.
Conditional result key: STAYED only if a real approved placement left a broad card in its intended zone during the stated look; MOVED only if a real approved placement visibly crossed/slid from that zone. Describe another actual outcome precisely if these do not fit. NOT TRIED if no approved placement occurs; TRIED remains empty. A card staying does not establish that a viewer understood it. Only report a viewer's actual pointing/words if someone really inspected it; otherwise viewer response is unknown. No prior result is printed. Adult-only placement is adult physical action, even if child directed.
Next moves: If PLAN and CHANGE are treated as observed results, ask what really happened and where it was recorded. If only one layout appears, invite another large-zone arrangement after the first response is saved. If a label is covered, ask what a viewer could see.
