- Listen · 4 min. Read source B; pause before its last sentence and ask if the drawing says which tube is heavier.
- Model · 5 min. Draw a tall narrow tube and short broad tube. Say image/caption show shape, while mass needs a separate direct comparison; “tall” is not “heavy.”
- Child try · 7 min. Choose one of three pictured object sets; child states one visible feature, one adult-caption detail and one unknown by pointing, sign, AAC or words.
- Check · 4 min. Reveal the source's proposed balance test. Child classifies it as a next test, not a completed finding.
- Exit · 2 min. Ask “What does this caption add?” If only colour is named despite no colour word, reread exact caption.
