Learner choices

Target/codes: identify a printed place feature and attribute two differing fictional perspectives to their sources; AC9HSFK03, AC9HSFS03. Prepare: Source A and Pip/Ren cards.

  1. Welcome · 3 min. Explain that Pip and Ren are made-up speakers. Children need not name their own special place or family.
  2. Read · 4 min. Read both exact voice cards. Point to REST SEAT and MAKER TABLE on the paper map without saying one is better.
  3. Model · 5 min. Complete “Pip says REST SEAT matters to Pip because …” with the card's quiet book reason. Mark this as a source statement, not a class survey.
  4. Independent route · 7 min. Day 3 A/B/C attribute Ren's maker-table reason and compare the two views using two broad cards, marks or adult movement. Each route states whose reason is whose.
  5. Perspective check · 4 min. Offer “Everyone thinks REST SEAT is best.” Ask which source supports “everyone”; neither. Accept “Pip says it” and “Ren says something different.”
  6. Exit · 2 min. Save one attributed sentence. If speaker names are swapped, reread cards with one source at a time next lesson.
