Learner choices

Target/codes: Compare a third-person fictional album with Jules's attributed first-person note and share one source-labelled narrative; AC9HSFS03, AC9HSFS04 and AC9HSFS05 partial.

  1. Settle/purpose · 3 min. The two sources have different voices; neither represents Emi's feelings.
  2. Read source · 4 min. Read B beside A. A states Jules born Cairns; B repeats it and adds Jules likes the Page Nook and Pat/Emi paper-book details.
  3. Model inquiry · 5 min. Say “A says who is related and where Pat/Jules were born. Jules says ‘I like...’ in B. We cannot say Emi liked the day.”
  4. Child response · 7 min. Child names one A/B shared fact, one B-only attributed view and one detail neither source gives; then tells a two-source story by speech/sign/AAC, picture or adult transcript.
  5. Check/respond · 4 min. Record source letter for each idea. If a child puts Jules's view into Emi's mouth, ask who wrote B.
  6. Exit · 2 min. Finish “Jules says ___; we would ask ___ to learn Emi's own view.”
