Teacher copy: This page may include teaching prompts or answer keys. Answer keys in this public library can be viewed by anyone. Give learners a clean prompt, use checks as formative evidence, and change a case locally when prior access matters.

Open after preserving each child's first independent response and exact assistance. These public formative checks are not secure examinations, QCAA tasks, real surveys or proof of a real place. Accept supported equivalent wording, pointing, sign, AAC and tactile choices. Keep a supplied anonymous tally separate from named people's notes.

Check A · Willow Room worked interpretation

  1. Source 1 has five fictional choices: four drawing shelf, one quiet mat. Among these five the shelf has more choices. This does not establish every actual Willow Room visitor's preference, and there is no real Willow Room.
  2. Iri, Source 2, values the quiet mat for looking at leaf cards. Ren, Source 3, values the drawing shelf for laying out paper leaves. Source 1 is anonymous, so it does not identify Iri as the one mat chooser or Ren as a shelf token, even though their personal notes use those feature names.
  3. “Nobody needs the mat” is not supported. One of five tokens chose it; Iri says the mat matters to Iri. Neither source proves what all visitors need or that the mat is safe/accessibly usable. A small count alone is not a removal decision.
  4. Valid next question: “Who uses the mat and what would change for them?” A voluntary user account, approved observation or responsible keeper's decision process could be proposed as a future source. It has not been collected here. Keeping the matter open is valid.

If a child assigns anonymous tokens to named people, hold the name cards outside the board. If a count becomes a right-to-remove rule, ask whose use is missing. Keep the first check response intact.

Check B · Folded Room worked interpretation

  1. Source 1 says four of six fictional tokens chose the craft table and two chose the reading chair. The table has more among these six. It says nothing about all visitors' reasons or which feature is more important to each person.
  2. Ori, Source 2, says the chair matters for looking at books. Val, Source 3, says the table helps spread folded paper. Source 1 is anonymous and cannot link either name to a token.
  3. Source 4 repeats the supported four/two count. “Everyone wants making” is unsupported: two chose the chair as their one recorded feature, and no source tells whether anyone also wants making. The count cannot establish every person's motives. “We should close the chair tomorrow” is a proposal; no decision, closure, result or permission is recorded.
  4. Valid next question: “How would closing the chair affect people who use it?” A voluntary account or approved observation plus the responsible keeper's decision context could help. Do not treat a proposed source as already obtained. No child is sent to change a real space.

If a child fuses a named note into the anonymous board, separate sources. If “should” becomes “did,” use PROPOSED/DECIDED/DONE cards. If the child raises uncertainty about accessibility, accept it as an open question rather than declaring the feature safe or unsafe.

Day-by-day teacher next-step record

Day Look for in first child-controlled response Next small move
121 Five-token count bounded to the fiction; one unknown. Mark anonymous board explicitly.
122 Choices separated from reasons. Add blank why fields.
123 Ada's reason attributed without assigning A token. Keep name and anonymous cards apart.
124 Ada/Bo different uses preserved. Read exact phrases under each speaker.
125 Independent A: count, two named reasons, unsupported removal, next question. Practise first missing move later in new setting.
126 Supported count, unsupported everyone, proposed closure sorted. Contrast should/did.
127 Conditional effect question names a person/use, no guaranteed result. Select possible source.
128 Future source labelled pending/not obtained. Revisit source availability.
129 Account cites count, named view, proposal and unknown. Record child words, not adult paraphrase.
130 Independent B: six-token count, two voices, proposal/status, next question. New fiction for one missing move.

Curriculum hold: Fictional feature choices only rehearse K03 concepts. K01/K02/K04 are also open; authentic familiar-place belonging, meaning and care need school-approved local evidence under LOCAL-SOURCE-INSERT.md. Partial S01–S05 practice does not prove year-end attainment.
