Offer any option, combine them, or switch during a task. These are not permanent learning-style categories. Read all source words in the same order; provide shapes/labels together and exact alternatives. Speech, sign, AAC, pointing, dictation and an adult following the child's directions count equally. Reading, vision, movement, craft, social performance and speed are not the HASS goal. No-touch descriptions include every diagram relation; a child need not touch materials, look at a face or join an actual try. Passing a participant role doesn't remove the inquiry task: use supplied paper reports and label them fictional. Ask the child to indicate their source and limit; do not turn adult completion into the child's reasoning.

Before fresh checks use blank unrelated mechanisms for handling/recording practice; keep fresh source content held. On check days read neutrally and record exact assistance. The three options preserve the same prompt, facts and success rule; they aren't easier/harder versions.

Day Make/direct Point/record Listen/communicate
171 Build or direct the broad place base; put the two feature pages in source A's positions and attach A. Indicate the two pictured features and left/right relations on the base; a scribe records source and open actual-place question. Hear exact A/real permitted observation; describe the two relations, direct the adult's placement and ask one question.
172 Make or direct two meaning flaps; attach each person's exact own reason to that person's feature. Choose which feature and speaker goes with each reason; point to an OPEN tab for other people's views. Hear both reasons; communicate one attributed meaning and its limit; an adult makes the matching flap without adding a reason.
173 Make/direct ASK FIRST and RETURN flaps from the care source; keep a done space empty. Indicate requested step, prior permission gap and action-not-yet-recorded gap; scribe separate those fields. Hear exact care words and describe what must be asked before action; dictate the source-backed care plan, leaving done open.
174 Arrange/direct the same two large cards on two labelled PLAN bases and make a pass-friendly invitation. Point between both plans; identify unchanged feature facts and indicate a willing/pass choice before a first direction is recorded. Hear exact positions of both plans; communicate a choice of rehearsal arrangement and first direction with permission/response still open.
175 After release, make/direct fresh A's two labelled plans and source-linked meaning/care flaps; answer all four prompts. After release, point to fresh A facts, source, report and gap; adult records all four responses exactly. After release, hear all fresh A source/diagram words neutrally, direct adult model placement and communicate all four answers.
176 Make/direct the first try logbook panel; place reported or actual response in the correct field and keep unobserved fields blank. Indicate actor, arrangement, wording/response and unknowns; distinguish supplied reported try from an actual model action. Hear the one-try account or permitted exact actual response; dictate one bounded record and a question without inventing missing wording.
177 Make/direct a separate second panel and attach the right meaning/source labels; leave second actual trial blank if unavailable. Point between the two reports; keep differing reader/layout/conditions apart and indicate one supported comparison and one gap. Hear each complete account separately; communicate what each reader reported and why two different tries don't show the better layout for everyone.
178 Make/direct FIRST and REVISED direction panels; keep the first intact and use a source label to repair one step. Indicate the source supporting a revision and whether retry was willing/observed or remains OPEN; scribe exact wording. Hear first wording and place source; dictate one revised instruction, communicate its source and limit, and choose retry/pass/no-retry.
179 Make/direct a useful approved return/handover kit; attach place feature, attributed meaning, care source and bounded try record. Point to each required kit field; direct permitted page return or mark not done, keeping any later-use claim OPEN. Describe the useful kit to a private willing recipient or paper listener; dictate meaning/care/source and genuine earlier/later record only if available.
180 After release, make/direct fresh B's display record; preserve plan/report/pass fields and answer all four prompts. After release, point to fresh B's feature, reason, care and one response; adult records exact source-linked answers and gaps. After release, hear fresh B and diagram relations neutrally; direct a broad model and communicate all four answers without a compulsory reader role.
