Offer A/B/C to everyone, with the child's usual speech, sign, AAC, eye gaze, pointing or neutral scribe. These are options, not learning styles or diagnosis assumptions. A uses school-approved making; B directs a prepared broad form/adult handler; C needs no print, screen, touch, colour, crease pressure or public sharing. Read a child's exact choice back. An unmade idea is PLAN ONLY; actual fold, standing and audience status are recorded separately. Home bridges are optional, free, private and need no object, photo or upload.
Day 71 · Choose the opening edge
Say: “Where will your paper picture open, and what could appear?”
- A · make: try two safe broad folds, then choose a hinge and intended reveal.
- B · direct: direct an adult to open prepared left/lower flaps; select an edge and revealed area.
- C · describe: say/sign/AAC two hinge positions and the chosen reveal; adult reads both back.
At home: invent an opening sky picture in words; choose side or lower edge without folding anything.
Day 72 · Outside and inside
Say: “What is there first? What do we find inside? How do they belong together?”
- A: add two original picture parts to outside/inside of a safe broad hinged blank.
- B: direct adult marking/placement on the two named faces, and give the connecting idea.
- C: describe exact outside and inside marks/locations plus their intended connection.
At home: imagine a paper book cover and inner picture; say how they form one invented idea.
Day 73 · Choose what to reveal
Say: “What shall stay visible? What shall appear when we open it?”
- A: try two image/flap placements and choose one for a reveal.
- B: direct an adult to show two prepared placements and confirm which best fits the child's intention.
- C: describe both placements and which part is hidden, visible or partly visible.
At home: tell two possible hiding places for an invented broad mark; choose one art reason.
Day 74 · Make an opening picture
Say: “Choose your own idea. Tell me the outside, inside and opening edge.”
- A: make a safe broad hinged artwork and try open/closed views if welcomed.
- B: direct the exact marking/fold sequence; adult states which actions they performed.
- C: describe the full work and view change; record unmade work as PLAN ONLY.
At home: invent a journey or joke picture with an inside reveal, without buying or making anything.
Day 75 · Check W
Say: “Try two opening-picture plans for this new brief; choose one and tell why.”
- A: draw/make two possible plans, then the chosen one on a safe prepared broad blank.
- B: direct neutral adult placement/folding without an adult hinge or placement suggestion.
- C: dictate/sign/AAC two exact plans, a choice and intended closed/open views.
At home: keep this check's source/key unrehearsed. After capture, use a different invented folding picture.
Day 76 · Two views
Say: “Which face do you want to mark? What might another view show?”
- A: choose front/side of a safe broad prepared form and add an original mark.
- B: adult turns the form or describes both views; child directs the marked face.
- C: hear exact front/side descriptions and choose face, mark and intended second view.
At home: imagine the front and side of an original paper artwork; no actual stand needed.
Day 77 · Across a bend
Say: “Will your mark stop at the bend or travel across it? Why?”
- A: mark a broad safe flat blank across a crease, fold if approved and compare views.
- B: direct adult marking on two named faces and welcome/decline a fold trial.
- C: describe exact mark sections on each face and how two views relate.
At home: imagine a path continuing around a folded paper corner; state what each view could show.
Day 78 · Tabletop paper art
Say: “Choose two faces for your own paper artwork. What should each show?”
- A: make a safe low broad form with a chosen mark relationship; actual tabletop placement is optional.
- B: direct prepared-form marking/fastening; adult logs handling and actual stood/did not stand/not tried result.
- C: describe the form, marks and views; physical making/folding/standing stays unobserved.
At home: describe a paper skyline or abstract artwork from two views; no strength, water or capacity test.
Day 79 · Choose a view to share
Say: “Which view tells your idea? You can show a willing person, or keep it private.”
- A: respond to a cleared real work if available and optionally show own made artwork's chosen view.
- B: use approved exact work/context description; direct a willing adult to show the child's chosen view if wanted.
- C: receive the same source words if cleared; choose an intended view without image, touch or actual sharing.
At home: optionally tell/show a willing person about a chosen view; otherwise keep your idea private.
Day 80 · Check X
Say: “Choose an original mark for the new two-face form. What could each view show?”
- A: draw/make the exact mark/face relationship and choose an intended view.
- B: direct neutral adult marking on named faces; no adult line or view suggestion before response.
- C: dictate/sign/AAC mark placement, both views and art reason; read back neutrally.
At home: do not rehearse the held source/key. Later choose a different fictional form and two-view idea.
Record the actual route
Child's art idea; hinge/face/mark location; intended view/reveal; made work or PLAN ONLY; actual maker/folder/support; opened/closed view actually encountered; standing STOOD / DID NOT STAND / NOT TRIED if appropriate; real-work source/authority and actual willing audience if any; next art teaching move. View preference does not diagnose vision, neurotype, motor skill or culture. Declining making/touch/sharing is a valid choice; record the event unobserved, with no penalty for that choice.
