School gate: Follow current local material, accessibility, plant-safety, privacy and consent procedures. Adults prepare all cutting and inspect a clean broad sheet, two broad blunt practice cards, thick marker and clear stable tabletop. An A3-or-larger surface is preferred for an actual trial; the A4 sheets are diagrams. No tape, pins, staples, blades, string, small detachable parts, real family artefacts, real plant parts, plant touching or outdoor placement is required. A child may point, draw, sign, use AAC, direct an adult or stay on the complete no-material spoken route. Do not place the guide on a walking route or near a living plant; it is a tabletop design task.

Optional actual tabletop trial: Adult gives an approved A3-or-larger broad sheet and two approved large practice drawing cards. Child may mark a reference edge/corner and position each card in turn; or direct an adult who physically does it. Record who marked the guide and who placed each card. Observe BOTH ON GUIDE only when each actual broad card edge contacts the chosen guide at its own placement check, ONE OFF GUIDE when at least one does not, or NOT TRIED when no approved placement happens. Describe any other observed state precisely. The two cards' internal marks may still differ; contact with a paper rail does not make drawings or original viewpoints comparable. Ask a willing reader to find the reference edge only if a real viewer is available; record what they actually do. Keep the practice cards distinct from any private family source or real plant record.
