Learner choices

Goal: distinguish a provenance-checked real PHOTO from an invented drawing and keep a depicted feature separate from local presence. The adult handles creator/rights checks. Proposed codes: AC9SFH01, AC9SFI01, AC9SFI03. Prepare: blank feature-record, source category cards; optional school-selected real animal image only after rights/provenance preflight, Card 83.

  1. Rights gate · 3 min. Adult checks creator/source/licence and date/viewed date, privacy and crop. If missing, do not show/use image; choose Model A.
  2. Read · 4 min. Identify PHOTO versus invented drawing. Name what part of an image is actually visible; do not infer behaviour, species or school locality.
  3. Model · 5 min. Teacher writes “PHOTO of depicted animal, source/date, visible feature, outside-crop UNKNOWN”. A caption alone is not proof of every feature.
  4. Child try · 7 min. Card 83 routes identify PHOTO or MODEL, record one actually visible depicted feature if a verified photo is available, and name a crop unknown. Otherwise describe one invented A mark as MODEL and leave real feature NOT OBSERVED. Adult adds provenance metadata.
  5. Check · 4 min. Offer “This photo means the animal is in our courtyard.” Child separates depicted animal source from location.
  6. Exit · 2 min. Keep photo provenance with private school record; no image copied into public pack.
