Learner choices

Goal: attempt a safe genuine animal view only if approved and an animal actually appears; record not-seen honestly. Proposed codes: AC9SFH01, AC9SFI02, AC9SFI03. Prepare: local outdoor/window permission and route check, safe-source, Model A fallback, Card 86.

  1. Site gate · 3 min. Adult checks school permission, weather/heat/access, boundary and stop signal; no chasing/feed/touch. If unsafe, stay inside and mark live view NOT OBSERVED.
  2. Question · 4 min. Ask what visible external feature a distant real view could show. Do not promise an animal appears.
  3. Observe · 5 min. From permitted place, quietly look if welcome. If an animal genuinely appears, note local date/time/view/access; if none, write NOT SEEN TODAY. No photograph needed.
  4. Child record · 7 min. Card 86 routes record one actually visible feature or NOT SEEN TODAY, with DIRECT/ADULT REPORT and exact prompt. A teacher-supplied verified PHOTO is separately labelled, not a live visit.
  5. Check · 4 min. Ask whether an invented route drawing or paper A fills a missing real sighting. Child names source boundary.
  6. Exit · 2 min. Return via approved route; hazard/animal care stays with adult school procedure.
