Learner choices

Goal: build a tentative rule from a visible external feature on two verified distinct real animal subjects, or label a drawing-only group. Proposed codes: AC9SFU01, AC9SFI02, AC9SFI03. Prepare: two approved distinct safe live/photo animal source records if available, Model C, two-animal, Card 88.

  1. Pair gate · 3 min. Confirm two distinct real subjects with separate source/date/view/access and photo rights if relevant. Two views of one subject or uncertain IDs mean grouping NOT OBSERVED.
  2. Read · 4 min. Name an actually visible external feature in each real source; if unavailable, read invented C marks as drawings only.
  3. Model · 5 min. Teacher groups C drawings by long/short/not-shown side marks and explicitly says this is paper grouping, not animal classification.
  4. Child try · 7 min. Card 88 routes state one child-chosen rule for actual two-source features if supported, place A/B and identify UNKNOWN. Two sources give first attempt, not universal rule.
  5. Check · 4 min. Ask whether “not shown in crop” proves a real animal lacks that feature. Child keeps hidden unknown.
  6. Exit · 2 min. Save actual partial grouping or MODEL ONLY; no Country/Place or ecological claim.
