Prepare: Fresh check-y-bands and spare blank paper; separate teacher key/worked swaps hidden; new broad card forms only if approved.
- Invite and choose · 3 min. Offer response route. Say, “Today you get a new source. You choose your art. There is no prettiest answer.” Read source words neutrally.
- Recall · 4 min. Retrieve MASTER, RUBBING, COLLAGE using unrelated plain blank card/paper. Do not show Y marks or model their arrangement. A rubbing result is unknown until tried.
- Explore source · 5 min. Present Y's broad oval and two offset short horizontal bands. Read all source positions neutrally. Present first prompt alone; allow exact access and neutral repetition without proposing an answer.
- Capture · 7 min. Preserve first child-controlled responses: original composition, actual/planned process status and selected collage idea. Material making may continue in a short later session; no timed completion rule. Record directions/prompts/access/maker. Do not demonstrate the supplied source during first capture.
- Notice and next · 4 min. After capture ask what child wants to keep/try next. Retain first response. Review separate key later for evidence/next step, not a term grade. Missing making stays NOT TRIED.
- Clear and close · 2 min. Return tools and store fresh response privately. A worked Y-day swap comes only AFTER first check capture.
