Prepare: Broad rubbing/drawn patches, approved backing/adhesive, place-source and established communication supports.
- Invite and choose · 3 min. Retrieve feature/care idea and choose abstract art, pretend place picture or private real-source response. No positive feeling about a place is imposed.
- Model · 4 min. Use unrelated invented book corner: source shelf, artist-chosen patch as shelf, empty room for returning a book. Explain art suggests an idea while real action may not happen.
- Explore · 5 min. Child chooses patch for their feature and a space/mark that helps the idea. Rotate/exchange by choice; no count, map-scale or universal-symbol assessment.
- Make/direct · 7 min. Child makes/directs loose/attached care collage. Add/dictate one short phrase such as “room to grow” or no text with an exact spoken/AAC explanation. Mark DRAWN PAPER if no rubbing. No name/address/real location/private detail is needed.
- Notice and next · 4 min. Ask how a visible choice supports the idea. Record actual arrangement, original phrase/meaning and support. A picture of a clear path does not prove someone cleared it.
- Clear and close · 2 min. Adult clears adhesive/offcuts. Keep made work/plan with source type and making record.
Look/listen for: child intention visible or explained through art. Try one broad patch plus one chosen space if a larger composition is not yet observable.
