Use status: an original, unpiloted Year 2 starter. Weeks 1–2 contain ten daily mathematics lessons, ten daily English lessons and two five-day integrated guides. Weeks 3–4 mathematics and English add ten more daily lessons each. The Weeks 1–2 and Weeks 3–4 supplementary packs provide 80 optional short blocks across Science, HASS, HPE and five Arts forms. The 40-week map is a planning route for later weeks, not ready-to-teach lessons or a claim of complete curriculum coverage. Local educator, disability/access and jurisdiction review are pending.
Start with the authored blocks
- Check your school's current Year 2 syllabus, calendar, reporting approach, local safety requirements and student adjustments. The national links here do not establish a state or territory implementation date.
- Before each day, read the matching numbered Weeks 1–2 mathematics and English lessons, or the Weeks 3–4 mathematics and English scripts. Each subject lesson is 25 minutes. In Weeks 1–2, use the separate integrated Week 1 or Week 2 guide for a further 30–40 minute session. Choose an optional Weeks 3–4 supplementary block when it fits your timetable; each has a distinct 12-minute script, learner prompt and staff next move. Weeks 3–4 integrated inquiry remains a planning brief. This is a route, not a whole-day timetable.
- Print only the aids needed: the opening number mat PDF and story/source mat PDF, the Weeks 3–4 maths route grid and exchange mat, the English route-and-reason mat, or the four new supplementary aids. Each pack links editable vectors and full text/tactile alternatives. No bought kit is required.
- For the 2–3 minute lesson checks, have everyone respond with objects, writing, pointing or an agreed communication method. Closely note two or three planned focus learners per session and rotate names. If the response must be independent, use a quiet station check later. Record “not yet observed” when necessary; never turn a copied group answer into individual evidence.
- Use the opening maths assessment and English assessment, then the separate Weeks 3–4 maths checks and English teacher assessment to choose the next move. Keep answer-bearing files off learner copies. Keep identifiable student work in school systems, not this repository. Ask children and families which access routes work, and consult relevant specialists for individual adjustments.
Access is a design choice throughout: give a clear visual and spoken model, readable high-contrast print, manipulatives, a quiet or movement option, enough wait time, and choices of speech, writing, gesture, AAC, dictation or pointing when the goal allows them. A learner's home language can support discussion, with a trusted speaker/interpreter where available; no supplied translations have been invented or validated. Check English phonics and composition separately from understanding of the topic. Do not assign children a fixed “learning style”.
Curriculum and provenance
The proposed content-description links were checked against the local normalized import of the official Australian Curriculum v9 workbook retrieved 29 September 2026. Workbook SHA-256: db446882d2c00cf7c085a03e250e2442fda6c44011fc114680c46c1dc7a822c3; local file products/curriculum-studio/data/frameworks/acara-v9.json. A code means the activity supports part of that content description, never that a student has met the Year 2 achievement standard. The year-level exact crosswalk and source and rights manifest now include cited Year 2 and Years 1 and 2 band descriptions from all authored packs. The first and second supplementary crosswalks explain the subject-specific evidence boundaries. Technologies, Languages, later subject sequences and local/state overlays need future planning and authority-specific checks.
