Target and claim boundary
NeuroForge targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This is a design and release target, not a formal third-party conformance certification. Accessibility depends on content, browsers, operating systems, assistive technology, and user configuration; automated checks cannot establish every person’s experience.
What is tested
The release process checks:
- semantic landmarks, headings, labels, names, roles, status messages, and link purpose;
- keyboard access, visible focus, skip navigation, dialog focus return, and absence of keyboard traps;
- text and non-text contrast, with state conveyed by words and shape rather than colour alone;
- reflow and navigation at mobile, tablet, desktop, zoomed, and narrow-screen layouts;
- chart data tables and downloadable values as alternatives to visual marks;
- founder-video controls, English timed captions, a visible transcript, a poster fallback, and a no-JavaScript media fallback;
- native controls for every public listening-study clip, explicit concealed-sample labels, keyboard-operable rating selects and preferences, progress and submission status, and a no-JavaScript playback fallback;
- reduced-motion, increased-contrast, and forced-colour behavior;
- accessible contact, claims filtering, evidence filtering, navigation, search, and held-workspace states; and
- production HTML validity, page titles, language, descriptions, and performance budgets.
Automated browser checks use axe where applicable and are supplemented with visual and keyboard review. The exact release receipt and validation state are available through current status and the build receipt.
Current limitations
- Opening an email draft transfers the user to their own mail application; the accessibility of that application is outside this site’s control.
- The founder video communicates its meaningful information through speech. English captions and a complete transcript are provided; no separate audio-description track is currently needed because the visuals do not add essential unsaid information.
- The listening study intentionally asks people to judge sound. Its prompts and controls are readable, operable, and labelled without hearing, but there is no non-audio substitute that can perform the same perceptual task. People who cannot comfortably hear the clips may review the study boundary without participating. This limitation is not presented as universal accessibility or as a hearing assessment.
- External research documents and sites may not meet the same accessibility target.
- The workspace is a held evaluation surface, not an approved production assistant. File selection and persistent workspace storage remain disabled.
- Highly technical evidence and claim language can be dense. Short summaries, boundaries, source receipts, tables, and machine-readable alternatives are provided, but specialist material may still require domain knowledge.
